Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was asked by CSUMB to present a graduation plan:
"The recommended format is power point presentation.
You have eight large scale affinity graduation celebrations (Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Chicanx/Latinx, Native American, Rainbow, Students with Disabilities, Veterans, and Undocumented) happening within a three-week time frame at the end of the academic year. These events require: event programs, photography, videography, live-streaming, and social media coverage. Please share your logistical plan for how you would manage these celebrations. Additionally, please provide some specific design examples to give us an idea of what you would produce. You will have 30 minutes to walk us through your designs and 30 minutes for campus partners to ask questions."
I began with an Excel file that coincided with my own project calendar. This way, I could set milestones and acquire assets and research, and mark these off as they are completed. I needed to book and plan the different events at different halls and theaters on campus based on availability and size. I came up with the amount of collateral that was needed and coordinated with printers and vendors regarding pricing and timing. Any social media campaigns and advertising were planned with the student schedule in mind for maximum accessibility.
All print collateral was designed, then put into mockups (seen here) for approval and review. Flyers, brochures, and the event programs are seen here.
A Powerpoint presentation and the printed collateral are presented to faculty and staff. Sadly, Covid-19 would prevent students from being able to participate in the various graduation events. On my end, this meant that the online web/social media part of the campaign wouldn't materialize, as well as the photography and analytics that would have occurred during and after. CSUMB supported graduating students with video congratulations as well as delaying commencement celebrations for a later date.
